Public Art Project
Unalaska Public Library
Metal Windscreen
2023
This design was created with the Aleutian weather in mind, having spent years climbing the hills surrounding the area and watching the various species of birds dancing with the wind. I wanted to create a piece that shared my love of Unalaska and all that it is. My heart is tied to this land, my own soul woven with the wind and sea. The Unalaska Public Library windscreen is 8' by 33’ and created from 11 panels of 1/8" aluminum. It contains a wind design that was hand drawn, cut and sandblasted on the metal with 5 separate flying black ravens in an arch over a full moon.

The Hidden Side
Metal Windscreen
2023
On the backside of the the windscreen, under the eve of the building, is a surprise for those entering the library. Contrasting against a sandblasted background are 14 shimmering jellyfish swimming toward the beach.
